John Wayne Was Framed and Jailed… With Minutes Left to Win the Race

John Wayne was cheated out of a business deal, threatened by a crooked rival, and pushed to the edge. But when $25,000 is on the line, he refuses to back down. In Winds of the Wasteland (1936), John Wayne stars as John Blair, a former Pony Express rider whose job disappears with the arrival of the telegraph. Looking for a new future, Blair and his partner invest in a stagecoach line—only to discover they've been sold a business serving an almost deserted town. Their chance to turn things around comes when a government mail contract is awarded to the fastest stagecoach team. But their ruthless rival will do whatever it takes to win, including sabotage, ambushes, and dirty tricks. With the race approaching, Blair faces one obstacle after another. Then he finds himself behind bars with only minutes remaining before the competition begins. Can he escape in time and beat his crooked opponent? Directed by Mack V. Wright and starring John Wayne, Phyllis Fraser, Lane Chandler, and Lew Kelly, Winds of the Wasteland is a fast-paced vintage Western packed with stagecoach action, frontier rivalry, and an unforgettable race against the clock.
