Welcome to the National Legal Rights Consortium (NLRC), WICCI live stream! In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, we are proud to present the next critical session in our Rights, Resilience, and Justice series: "Protecting the Girl Child: Reproductive Autonomy, Honour-Based Violence, and Legal Remedies". At NLRC, we believe that true legal advocacy requires confronting uncomfortable realities. Today, we dissect the power relations, state institutions, and family structures that threaten bodily agency and perpetuate violence against the girl child. 🎙️ GUEST SPEAKER: Asst. Prof. Shikha Vasishta Asst. Prof. Vasishta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law at MAIMS, Delhi (GGSIPU). She has submitted her Ph.D. in Political Science at Bennett University and holds degrees from the University of Delhi. Her profound scholarship lies at the intersection of reproductive rights, feminist legal theory, and gender-based violence, specifically examining how legal, political, and sociocultural structures shape reproductive autonomy across the Global South. 🎙️ HOST & MODERATOR: Khushi Singh National Council Member, NLRC. Key Themes Explored in This Session: Reproductive Autonomy vs. The POCSO Framework: Navigating the mandatory reporting and child-protection frameworks while protecting an adolescent's bodily integrity. Practical Legal Remedies: Addressing child marriage, forced pregnancy, and approaching constitutional courts (Article 226 & 32) for protection. Institutional Reform: Discussing accountability across police, schools, healthcare institutions, and Child Welfare Committees. Actionable Steps: What students and young citizens can do to support victims and safely report abuse. 🗓️ Date Recorded: Sunday, October 11, 2026 ⏰ Time: 5:00 PM IST Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this webinar are those of the speakers and do not constitute formal legal advice. #NLRC #WICCI #InternationalDayOfTheGirlChild #GenderJustice #ReproductiveAutonomy #WomenInLaw #HumanRights #LawStudents #POCSO #LegalAdvocacy
