Rusalka Week Is 1 Funeral Nobody Ever Finished

In the river country of Ukraine, Belarus, western Russia, and eastern Poland, Rusalka Week came with strict rules: stay out of the water, leave the sewing alone, carry wormwood, and never answer “parsley.” The rusalka is not a mermaid. She is an improperly buried dead girl whose season is tied to Trinity, Semik, and the annual burial of people denied a proper funeral. This episode follows those customs from the Pripyat marshes to the final rite of walking her out to the rye. She is not a monster to defeat.
