Join us for a one-hour introductory session on the Open Dialogue in Schools and Communities (ODiSC) project. Open Dialogue is a collaborative, person-centred approach to mental health care. Developed in Northern Finland in the 1980s, it focuses on dialogue, the respectful sharing of multiple perspectives within a person’s family and social network, and shared decision-making. This approach offers an empowering way to support individuals experiencing mental health distress. The session will outline the core principles of Open Dialogue and highlight its links to dialogic learning in social care and education. We will also hear from Sarah Farrell-Whelan of Korowal School in Australia, where Open Dialogue has been embedded across the school community.
