Chevening Scholarship 2027: Practical Essay Writing Clinic

This is a practical Chevening Scholarship application clinic for applicants preparing their essays for the 2027 scholarship cycle. During the session, we worked through the current Chevening essay questions and discussed practical ways applicants can think about their experiences and communicate them clearly. Rather than providing model essays, we used real experiences from participants to show how applicants can identify useful evidence from their own work. We discussed the leadership essay, professional relationships and networking, choice of course and university, and medium- and long-term career plans. We also discussed how to build an evidence bank, identify strong examples, show your individual contribution and results, research your chosen university, and make the different parts of your application tell a coherent story. The central message from the clinic is simple: your story does not have to look like anyone else’s. Start with what you have actually done, understand its value, and communicate it clearly.
