🌟 What You’ll Learn:
✅ 1. HAVE DONE — Present Perfect
We use have done to talk about past actions that are connected to the present, such as experiences, results, or things completed within a period that continues up to now.
Examples:
I have done my homework.
We have finished our work.
Have you done your assignment yet?
I have already done the shopping.
I haven't done it yet.
Remember: Use have with I, you, we, and they. Use has with he, she, and it.
✅ 2. HAD DONE — Past Perfect
We use had done to show that an action was completed before another past action or a particular time in the past.
Examples:
I had done my homework before my friend arrived.
She had already left when I called her.
They had finished dinner before we reached the restaurant.
Had you done the work before the meeting started?
He hadn't done his homework when the teacher checked it.
Remember: Use had with all subjects: I, you, we, they, he, and she.
✅ 3. DID — Simple Past
We use did to talk about completed actions in the past, often with a finished time expression such as yesterday, last week, or two days ago.
Examples:
I did my homework yesterday.
She did the shopping last weekend.
Did you finish the report?
I didn't do anything special yesterday.
We did our best during the exam.
Remember: In questions and negative sentences, use did or didn't followed by the base form of the verb.
Correct: Did you do your homework?
Incorrect: Did you did your homework?
Correct: I didn't do it.
Incorrect: I didn't did it.
💡 HAVE DONE vs HAD DONE vs DID
Let's compare these examples:
I have done my homework. — The homework is completed, and the result matters now.
I had done my homework before dinner. — The homework was completed before a past event or time.
I did my homework yesterday. — The action happened at a finished time in the past.
Understanding these differences will help you talk about your daily routine, past experiences, and stories more clearly. 💡
