MERCY IN THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD
(Matthew 18:21-35)
by Servus Christi
VERSE 1:
In the silence of your presence,
you remember every tear.
You see the debts I cannot carry,
yet you draw my trembling heart near.
VERSE 2:
In your Body, broken for me,
I find mercy undeserved.
You forgive the weight I’m holding—
more than I could ever return.
CHORUS 1:
Here at your table,
mercy is given, mercy is fed.
Teach me forgiveness
in the breaking of the Bread.
Jesus, my Savior,
let your compassion fill my chest.
Make me a vessel
of the mercy I have met.
VERSE 3:
You know the wounds I keep remembering,
the ones I struggle to release.
But your love is stronger than resentment,
and your grace is deeper than my grief.
VERSE 4:
As you offer me your presence,
you invite me to forgive.
What you’ve poured out without measure
you now call me forth to give.
CHORUS 2:
Here at your table,
mercy is given, mercy is fed.
Teach me forgiveness
in the breaking of the Bread.
Jesus, my Savior,
let your compassion fill my chest.
Make me a vessel
of the mercy I have met.
BRIDGE:
Seventy times seven,
let my heart be like your own.
As you heal me in this moment,
Make your tenderness be known.
In your Eucharistic mercy,
all my bitterness is stilled.
Lord, transform me as you feed me—
make forgiveness be my will.
CHORUS 3:
Here at your table,
mercy is given, mercy is fed.
Teach me forgiveness
in the breaking of the Bread.
Jesus, my Savior,
let your compassion fill my chest.
Make me a vessel
of the mercy I have met.
CHORUS 4:
Here at your table,
mercy is given, mercy is fed.
Teach me forgiveness
in the breaking of the Bread.
Jesus, my Savior,
let your compassion fill my chest.
Make me a vessel
of the mercy I have met.
CODA:
Make me a vessel
of the mercy I have met.
