Niccolo Paganini - Romanza (from Sonata in A Major Op. 39)

Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840) is arguably the most famous violin-virtuoso/composer in musical history. He was, however, dedicated to another string insrument as well: the guitar! On his tours, he described the guitar as his "constant companion". This Romanza comes from his Sonata in A Major (M.S. 3, op. 39). This movement truly makes the guitar sing, and therein lies also its challenge: to make the melody lines as cantabile as possible.
