Rural churches of eastern Latvia. Top 10.

Latvia's rural churches are currently experiencing some of the worst moments in their history. This was greatly influenced by Latvia's Soviet past. During communist rule, many churches were converted into warehouses, and the number of believers declined significantly. This led to the disappearance of Christian traditions in many families. After Latvia regained independence, most of the buildings were returned to religious denominations. But there are also those that remain abandoned. There are many reasons for this. One of them is that Eastern Latvia is the most backward region of the country. It has the highest mortality rate. Young people leave to work in the capital or in European countries. Religious communities are usually very small. And without people, churches simply become unnecessary. Nevertheless, in this video, I show 10 of the most beautiful churches. All of them are rural and all are distinguished by their architectural design. Enjoy watching, everyone.
