Fall of Damascus on Thrash, Groove Metal & Their Debut EP | Alex Sandra Podcast Ep. 27

Fall of Damascus are a relatively new force in the Los Angeles metal scene, coming together in 2025 and quickly building momentum through live shows, including a performance at the Whisky a Go Go. In this episode, we talk about how the band formed, the groove-and-thrash direction of their upcoming EP, their approach to live performance, and what they’re building toward in 2027. In this episode, we talk about how the band came together, what each member brings to the project, and the direction behind their upcoming debut EP. Their sound sits somewhere between thrash and groove metal, with the new material leaning into heavy riffs and themes around war, totalitarianism, and the darker parts of history. We also get into what makes a live show actually feel successful, their pre-show rituals, memorable performances, and that moment when you just know you killed it on stage. Somewhere along the way we talk about metal during Christmas, ESP vs Ibanez, dream sponsorships, and what Fall of Damascus are planning for the rest of 2026 — new music videos, more shows, the EP, and building a strong first base for 2027. ⏱ TIMESTAMPS 00:16 – Meet Fall of Damascus: introductions & roles in the band 01:03 – How did Fall of Damascus come together? 03:06 – The upcoming EP & its groove-inspired direction 03:55 – Metal music during Christmas 04:15 – Pre-show rituals 08:55 – Their most memorable live show 11:05 – How do you know when you killed it on stage? 11:40 – Thrash or groove metal?
