“We Want Lumbuye Back!” — PLU’s Embassy Protest Ends in a Reality Check.

PLU supporters marched to the Turkish Embassy demanding: “We want Lumbuye back!” The demonstration followed an order from Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is also PLU chairman. And here comes the funny part: the people doing the marching were under police protection—a striking contrast to how political demonstrations involving government critics are often handled. But after all the chanting, mobilisation and drama, the protesters still had to take their petition through diplomatic channels. Turkey has not simply handed Lumbuye over. So what did we get? A protest, plenty of noise, cameras rolling—and the Lumbuye problem still sitting in Turkey. In other words: a political stunt with a diplomatic problem waiting at the end of the march.
