1964 CUCA WI POLKA Goose Island Ramblers "Oscar's Cannon Ball" WISCONSIN Meyer

Trio from Stoughton, Wisc. Other members: Kenneth Wendall ("Windy") Whitford (1913 - 2000) & " George" Smokey Gilbertson. Cuca owner Jim Kirchstein always insisted that his label's greatest legacy was its folk and polka releases, and he always specifically name-checked The Goose Island Ramblers. He was incorrect, as the Soul, Rock, and Country releases are all considered well above its folk musics. But that doesn't diminish the fact that these gents were excellent at a number of different Olde musics. This is from their debut, "From Blue Grass To Russian Gypsy". This one is perhaps an original? It appears to focus on Madison's Oscar Meyer Plant.
