Nothing Beats an Overhead Approach! E175 Landings at Portland International

Sometimes a new spotting location completely changes the way you experience an airport, and this video is a perfect example. For this spotting session at Portland International Airport (PDX), I set up at a location near the approach end of Runway 28L where arriving aircraft pass directly overhead before landing. The result was some incredible views of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air Embraer E175LR arrivals. The E175LR has become one of the most important regional jets operating throughout the Pacific Northwest, and it's always a pleasure to watch them arrive at PDX. Seeing them from directly underneath the approach path gave me an entirely new appreciation for these aircraft, from the sound of the engines to the sight of the landing gear lowering overhead. While I've filmed plenty of E175s over the years, this perspective made them feel brand new again.
