A defendant stands before Judge Raquel West after shooting TWO young women while already on probation for a serious felony — and his explanation doesn't convince the judge.
During the violent encounter, one of the women was shot three times. Thankfully, both victims survived.
The defendant's attorney argues that his client acted in self-defense. But after reviewing the evidence, Judge West challenges that explanation and concludes that the defendant was the aggressor.
The defendant was also shot during the confrontation. However, the two women were not charged, as their actions were considered self-defense.
As the hearing continues, the defendant claims he now suffers from PTSD following the shooting. Judge West firmly challenges his attempt to use that experience to justify his actions.
With the defendant already on felony probation when the shooting occurred, Judge West delivers her decision:
12 YEARS IN PRISON.
Was the sentence fair? Should the defendant's self-defense argument or claimed PTSD have affected the outcome?
