The rematch of the Bizarre Cooking Competition via Satori on Lunatic difficulty. Talk to Satori after finishing the Bizarre Cooking Competition and you’ll get the option to “Recall the Bizarre Cooking Competition,” allowing you to redo only the gameplay portions of it on any of the difficulties listed. Lunatic difficulty here essentially changes the requirements for each phase, meaning more work and time you’ll have to put into overcoming each phase, but it’s not too different otherwise. Also, this video is pretty long, so feel free to play it at a faster speed or skip around to the phase you need some guidance at.
Anyway, this fight is split into three distinct phases. A regular customer serving phase, a rare customer serving phase, and a boss phase. Each phase has its own unique spin you have to watch out for, so you’ll have to be vigilant with your cooking.
Phase 1: 0:27
On Lunatic, you will have to fully satisfy (get orange box text) 32 regular customers while their orders are obscured. Field one food you can stack a lot of tags on and one drink and stack ingredients to satisfy a particular customer’s tags. Here are some ingredients that’ll give you what tags you need:
Grapes/Peaches - Fruity, Sweet
Lamprey - Signature
Pufferfish - Aquatic, Fresh, Sea Delicacy
Salmon - Aquatic, Premium, Fresh
Truffle - Legendary, Mountain Delicacy, Premium, Fresh, Fungi
Butter - Greasy
Egg - Raw
Radish - Good with Alcohol
In general, a Truffle + Meat will suffice, but customers like Youkai Rabbits or Ubumes will require more specialized ingredients to satisfy them. Also, I recommend bringing at least one kitchenware to make high level recipes with, both for Hyper Mode and for the third phase. Put those dishes into storage.
Phase 2: 17:39
Now you get multiple rare customers you have to fully satisfy (pink box, and you have to satisfy 25 of them) while having to hit a specific trait shown in the corner. Doesn’t seem so difficult, but not fully satisfying them will make them unleash their punishment cards on you, which can really screw you over. The Bizarre Cooking Tag shown in the corner will change after a while, unlike Yuuma’s fight, so hold off on cooking near the end when it's close to changing. Try serving drinks before serving dishes, it’ll make it easier to anticipate the tag change.
Try to strategically target characters whose reward spells will greatly benefit you. Reimu will prevent punishments while someone like Orin or Patchouli will let you breeze through this challenge (you probably still have to insert the Bizarre Cooking Tag though under their effects though). Failing that, try going for someone whose punishment card isn’t so crippling, you don’t want to screw up on Okuu’s order and blow up your important kitchenware. Otherwise, it’s pretty much a knowledge check for the main game and DLC 2.
Phase 3: 26:00
Koishi is the main obstacle in this phase, she’ll summon seven copies of herself that’ll order like a regular customer would. On Lunatic, she has 100 HP to the regular competition’s 50. The main Koishi will have her order obscured, and the only way to figure out her order is to satisfy the orders of the other Koishis while the food being served has the Bizarre Cooking Tag in it. Same tips as last phase, serve drinks first and don’t cook if the tag is close to changing.
Each copy of Koishi will have one tag above them, some of them are tags the recipe itself has, while those with a dark box and “X” next to them are what the recipe doesn’t have. One tag will be the drink tag. You can serve any drink to Koishi as long as it has the tag that’s revealed by satisfying that Koishi’s order. Also, after finding all of the recipe tags, you can use the filter section in the recipes portion of the notebook to find the dish with all the tags revealed.
After successfully serving Koishi the correct food and beverage, she’ll become vulnerable for a short period of time. Bring out the highest level dish you have from storage and the highest level drinks you have and quickly serve it to her. On Lunatic, the maximum amount of damage you can deal to Koishi is 27%, so you’ll have to go through at least four cycles to defeat her. It’s tough and somewhat luck based because of the Bizarre Cooking Tag and if Koishi orders multiple food that requires the same kitchenware to cook, but it’s pretty doable.
