5 (FIVE) BHANGI PARENG OF MANIPURI CLASSICAL DANCE (RAASA LEELA AND GOSHTHA LEELA) Changi is a Bangali words. The internal meaning is the movement of the body in three gestures as glimpse by the Lord Krishna in Hindu mythology, it was generally known as “TRIVANGA” mean three gesture of Lord Krishna. The three gesture with change of position of neck, heal and lower cap (hind limb portion) when performing the dance with sequence are known as Bhangi Pareng. The kings of Manipur offer the Bhangi dance to Lord Krishna Shri Shri Govindaji from the ancient time entitled as Bhangi Pareng in Manipur Classical dance. There are five (5) kinds of Bhangi Pareng Dance. 1. Bhangi Parang Achouba 2. Gopi Vindraband Pareng 3. Khurumba Pareng 4. Goshtha Bhangi 5. Goshtha Vrindaban pareng The Bhangi Pareng Ahouba was the first of its kind dedicated to Shri Shri Govindagi by Rajshree Bheighyachandra Maharaja during seventeen century as Rasha Lilla. According to renown Guru Pandit and Vakta Vaishnavas Rasha Lilla classified and entitled as: 1. MAHARASH: Bhangi Pareng Achouba and Gopi Vindavan Pareng. (it is performed only on the day of “Mera Waphukpa” day) event. 2. KUNJARASA: Bhangi Pareng Achouba (it is performed only on the day of “Mera Wayungba” day/event. 3. BASANTA RASA: Bhangi Pareng Achouba and Khurumba Pareng. (It is performed only on the day of Sajibu Purnima) 4. NITYARASA: Bhangi Pareng Achouba, Gopi Vindravan Pareng and Khurumba Pareng (It can be performed in anywhere any place as desire) in day and night. 5. DVYARASA: Bhangi Pareng Achoua (it can be performed in anywhere any place, in daytime. The above three ascend of Rasa will be performed only the king's palace (konung) no other places are allowed. 6. GOSTHA LILLA: Gostha Bhangi and Vindravan Pareng (It is also a clarified form of Bhangi Dance focus on “San Shenba” Festival/events generally performed in the king's palace. So called, Bhangi Pareng Achouba are known as ‘SAMBHOG’ mean the dance composed on human body formation in dancing style. Vindravan Pareng means on Vidravan ethics and Khurumba Pareng expressed the ritual forms of prayer. Bhangi Pareng Achouba dance is performed in highly conscious form of human body formation. It is one of the most ethical parts in Manipur classical dance from the ancient time in which bearing the meaningful peace in gentle form performed by the Gopies keeping in mind of the lord Krishna. Not interruption and disturbance are allowed when performing the dance. It is believed that Bhangi dance is derived from the Meitei tradition customary dance ‘LAI HARAOBA’. It is performed only in the midnight where the peaceful mind exists the pilgrimage Bhakta & Bishnavas for concentration of lord Krishna. The soft movement expressed in the dance with performing Rash-Lilla dance. Without the part of Bhangi Pareng Achouba it cannot be entitled as Rash Lilla. The style of Bhangi Pareng Achouba dance comprises of full spiritual concentration and worship classified as ‘JAIGYA’ mean the full moment of worshiping in God. The full concentration of ‘TRIVANGA of lord Krishna and act in performing dance by the Gopies with song of worship is the first part of the dance. Now, a day the worshiping song, its style are composed for more influencing and attraction by the renowned Gurus and sing in modified form. Different styles of worship and song and music are also presented in the five kinds of Bhangi Pareng Achouba dance. Considering the five kinds of Bhangi Pareng Achouba dance, its secret and methodology of expression.
