The pier is empty and the water is dark and still.  He sits at the very end, a silver flask tipped to his lips, an old radio glowing low on the planks beside him.  Across the water, the streetlamps lay long, trembling streaks of gold and pink over the surface, and every ripple breaks them apart and pulls them back together. He doesn't think about the work tonight.  The slow tune drifts out of the little speaker and thins into the night air.  A man who does good work knows when to let the quiet do the talking.  The whiskey goes down warm, the light keeps shaking on the water, and the city across the harbor goes on without him. Low tenor saxophone. Hollow-body guitar. Deep upright bass. Muted trumpet. Brushed drums, quiet and steady.  Warm and close, like a slow song carried across still water at night. Music for relaxing, chill, deep sleep, reflection, focus, study, work, coding, night driving. Built for the long hour at the water's edge, with a warm flask in hand and the city lights shivering in the dark. 00:00 — End of the Pier 09:58 — Flask and Dark Water 19:58 — Streetlamps on the Water 30:00 — Radio Turned Low 39:57 — Ripples from the Posts 49:58 — Silver and Whiskey 59:57 — Mooring Rope 1:09:55 — Warm Dial, Cold Night 1:19:57 — The Far Shore 1:29:57 — Wavering Light 1:39:56 — One Slow Swallow 1:49:54 — Planks and Tide 1:59:56 — Empty Pier Hours 2:09:56 — Reflections Don't Ask 2:19:57 — The Radio Fades Out #jazz #jazznoir #retromusic #vintagemusic #darkmusic #loungejazz #cinematicjazz #hardboiled #pier
