Installing a Traditional Ceiling in Historic House

It's been three years without a ceiling... and 100 years without a good ceiling. When we bought the house, the entry hall's ceiling was held up by rotted boards, and were so low, certain people had to duck. The kitchen ceiling was made of 10 x 10 cm beams laid next to each other, covered by a crapped plastic drop ceiling (home to mice as well). We of course, ripped it out. And it has sat as an empty, high ceiling cavern since then. But finally, we were able to put back a ceiling worthy of the house, and as a bonus, get our second floor back.
