Miles From Myself is about trying to outrun the one thing that follows you everywhere. Raw. Honest. Human. RAEN @thisisraen LYRICS Two lanes. Half a tank. Three hundred miles since I said your name. Funny thing about running. The road moves. You don't. Coffee going cold in the console again, sun coming up somewhere I ain't been. Your last goodbye still under my breath, dashboard clock says I ain't there yet. Told everybody I just needed space, like a hundred more miles could erase your face. So I followed white lines through another state, trying to outrun a man moving at the same damn pace. I keep the window down. Keep the radio low. Keep telling myself there's somewhere else to go. But every town fades. Every highway ends. And somehow I'm still right where I've been. Every mile gets smaller in the rearview glass, but some things don't disappear that fast. I'm a thousand miles from where I started, still one breath from where you left me. Every road I take goes farther, but none of them forget me. I can cross every line, leave every light behind. But wherever I go, I'm still miles from myself tonight. Miles from myself. I got good at leaving, bad at letting go, good at finding exits, bad at heading home. Got a bag in the back with the things I avoid, and a head full of words underneath all the noise. They say, "move on," like an engine can heal, like distance makes everything hurt less real. But I've watched four state lines disappear in the dark, and every empty road still leads to my thoughts. Maybe it wasn't you. Maybe it wasn't this town. Maybe I've been blaming everything just to keep looking out. 'Cause if I keep moving, I don't have to know why the hardest place to be is anywhere I'm alone. Pulled off somewhere before sunrise. Killed the engine. Watched the whole world go quiet. No radio. No headlights. No story to tell. Just me in the mirror and nobody else. Maybe home ain't a place. Maybe peace ain't a road. Maybe all this weight only leaves when you finally let it go. Maybe the thing I've been trying to outrun was never behind me. It was inside me. So I stopped running. Stopped blaming the road. Stopped carrying ghosts everywhere that I go. No more miles just to hide from the truth. If I wanna get home, I gotta go through. I was a thousand miles from where I started, one breath from everything that broke me. Every road I took went farther, but none of them could save me. So I crossed that line. Left the old me behind. And for the first time in my life, I'm not miles from myself tonight. Not miles from myself. Maybe home was never somewhere else. Maybe home was learning to live with myself. © 2026 RAEN.
