Welcome Home, Kid

I wrote this when all my friends started having kids. Welcome home, kid. You're right where you belong. It can get rough here. We'll try to help you along. But find your own way, the right words to your song. The ones who guide you will try, but sometimes will get it all wrong. But welcome home, kid Welcome home, kid. We're all glad you could show. You might get a bit scared of things you don't know. But still tend your garden. Make sure it can grow. Remember you'll spend your time reaping and eating whatever you sow. And welcome home, kid. Welcome home, kid. We hope you'll like it here. Be sure to be careful, but not ruled by your fear. It ain't never the pavement that makes a path clear. Don't let the world decide for you who or what it is that you hold dear. And welcome home, kid. Welcome home, kid. Try to stay for a while. Find you some folk who can see through your smile. What's deep in your heart only you can defile. Don't just wear the shoes. Lace them up tight and walk for a mile. Welcome home, kid. There's plenty you'll find and plenty stays hid. But upside or downside, through good and the bad, welcome home, kid.
