2022-23 Southwest Indian Ocean Cyclone Season Animation

Continuing from last year, the 2022-23 Southwest Indian Ocean Cyclone Season was semi-active but extremely devastating. It became the second deadliest season on record, behind only 2018-19, and is arguably one of the most historic seasons of all time. Cyclone Freddy is the obvious highlight of the season, having an extremely long track and breaking the records for the longest lived storm worldwide, most ACE generated by a single storm worldwide, and is the only known storm to have had 7 different rapid intensification cycles. Additionally, Cyclone Fabien would break the record for the latest major cyclone in the basin, surpassing a storm in 1987. Cheneso was a rather deadly storm that stalled near Madagascar. The situation worsened only 2 weeks later with Freddy.
