Music is often treated as entertainment, but what if it is also a form of knowledge? In this conversation, three-time Grammy-nominated pianist, composer, and Harvard professor Vijay Iyer argues that music is not simply something we consume, but a way of understanding ourselves, one another, and the world. In conversation with Harvard Graduate School of Education student Amy, Iyer explores music as a source of knowledge and the role of listening, embodiment, and improvisation in how we understand ourselves and one another. Together, they discuss creativity, spirituality, artificial intelligence, and what music can teach us about being human. Rather than treating music as entertainment alone, this conversation explores music as a way of listening more deeply and seeing the world more fully.
