Does that flag wave for me? Living in reduced circumstances Seems to be the order of my day It’s tougher now than when i was a soldier In foreign lands oh so far away They always tell me thank you for your service But if they mean it i can never tell I never was too good at reading faces All fuzzy with the meds i take as well Oh say can you see does that flag wave for me? Just glad to be back home but does that flag wave for me? I’d like to thank that guardian angel found me laying in that field Were they real or just imagined Lifted me and helped me stumble home I signed up so that i could help defend Our country if we ever were attacked Instead i spent my time in the service So far from home protecting others’ backs But now i’m home my skills no longer needed I guess that i should just have stayed in school Instead i’m in a tent in this encampment And thinking that they played me for a fool
