Preachers Choice (Wk2) - The Heart of Christ - Matt 11:10-20

Hi There, From 28/12/25 until 25/1/26 we are running a Preacher's Choice Series for our messages. This means the five sermons are purely up to what the individual preacher has chosen. This is the second week and second message of the series. Summary: What if everything we thought we knew about approaching God needed to be turned upside down? This message invites us into the most intimate revelation Jesus ever gave about His own heart. Drawing from Matthew 11:20-30, we discover the only place in all of Scripture where Jesus explicitly describes what He's like on the inside: gentle and humble in heart. This isn't just a nice attribute among many; it's the core of who He is. We're challenged to reconsider our assumptions about God's character. Do we see Him as demanding and distant, or as genuinely accessible and kind? The passage shows us that Jesus doesn't call the spiritually polished or the self-sufficient. Instead, He extends His invitation to the weary, the burdened, the discouraged, and those who feel like they keep messing up. The revolutionary truth here is that our weakness doesn't distance us from Christ; it actually draws Him closer to us. His yoke isn't another heavy burden added to our load, but rather a life preserver that lifts us above the drowning waters of trying to earn our salvation. When we come to Him empty-handed, acknowledging our need, we find the rest our souls have been desperately seeking. This rest isn't about an easy life without challenges, but about ceasing from our futile efforts to be good enough on our own. It's the peace of knowing we're secure in His love, the freedom of depending on His Spirit rather than our own strength, and the joy of being received exactly as we are. Blessings Pastor Glen
