Admitted in 1991. She NEVER Went Home. Her Nurse Got Over $30 MILLION: Huguette Clark Officially, she was a patient. In March 1991 an elderly woman with skin cancer on her face was admitted to a Manhattan hospital, treated, and expected to go home. She never did. For twenty years Huguette Clark, daughter of the copper king William Andrews Clark, lived in a hospital room under a false name, while 42 rooms on Fifth Avenue, an oceanfront estate in Santa Barbara and a Connecticut mansion stood ready for her, staffed and dusted. A day nurse assigned to her by chance received more than $31 million in gifts. In 2004, by the account of her biographers and her estate's later lawsuit, the hospital asked her for $125 million. In 2005, at 98, she signed two wills forty-three days apart. Only one of them could be her real wish. And the name on her door was not hers.
