Matric Prelims 2025 - Grade 12 Physical Sciences Paper 2 - This % Purity + Back Titration question WILL come on Monday!
In this video I solve May 2021 P2 Q5.5 step-by-step:
A 13g impure KOH sample dissolved in 200cm³ of 1.2 mol/dm³ HNO3 (excess). 50cm³ titrated with 23.67cm³ of 0.85 mol/dm³ Na2CO3.
We cover:
5.5.1 Amount of nitric acid added (mol)
5.5.2 What is Standard Solution? (Definition)
5.5.3 What is Neutralisation point? (Definition)
5.5.4 PERCENTAGE PURITY of KOH (9 marks) - Full back titration calculation
Reaction A: HNO3 + KOH → KNO3 + H2O
Reaction B: 2HNO3 + Na2CO3 → 2NaNO3 + CO2 + H2O
This is for Grade 12 Physical Sciences, also Grade 11 Stoichiometry revision for November.
