NYCT Bus: Xcelsiors on the S55, S56, S74, & S78 in Staten Island (2019-24 New Flyer XD40 & XE40 NG)

Taken 7/14/25. Seen here are MTA New York City Transit 2019 New Flyer Industries XD40 "Xcelsior" and 2024 New Flyer Industries XE40 NG "Xcelsior CHARGE" buses on the S55, S56, S74, and S78 making their way towards various destinations in Staten Island. A major bus swap is happening across the city, as maintenance on Staten Island has been running into problems. XD40 buses from the Flatbush Depot are currently running on the Charleston bus routes, and Orion VII 3rd Gens are running in Brooklyn from the Castleton Depot. In this video, you'll see a few Xcelsiors making their way through St. George and Eltingville. The island has primarily used Novabuses for the last decade, so this is a nice change of scenery for Staten Island transit...
