Most people see Monument Valley bathed in warm desert sunlight. We saw it covered in snow — and honestly it might be even more beautiful. Our winter holiday RV trip brings us to Mexican Hat, Utah and one of the most spectacular campsites we've stayed at on any trip: Goosenecks State Park. The San Juan River has carved a series of impossibly tight meanders a thousand feet below the overlook, and you camp right on the rim. Cold? Absolutely. Worth it? Without question. 🌀 The snow rolled in and the temperature dropped hard, but Monument Valley doesn't stop being Monument Valley just because it's freezing. The red sandstone mittens and buttes dusted in white against a grey winter sky is a combination most visitors never get to see — we felt lucky every time the clouds broke and let the sun through. Peggy grabbed a sunny window to drive through Valley of the Gods — a stretch of red rock formations winding through the Colorado Plateau that feels like a quieter, more personal version of the big-name parks. Absolutely worth it. 🏜️ And then there's the Forrest Gump road. That straight ribbon of highway stretching toward the Monument Valley buttes, immortalized in the film. We saw it twice — once in fresh snow, once in sunshine. The snowy version might be the better one. Run, Peggy, run. 🏃 In this episode: 🌀 Goosenecks State Park — one of our all-time favorite campsites, Mexican Hat Utah ❄️ Snow rolls into Monument Valley — red rocks meet white snow 🏜️ Driving Valley of the Gods on a sunny day 🎬 The Forrest Gump road — in snow AND sunshine 🚐 Winter RV life in the Utah desert — cold, beautiful and completely worth it == Follow Us == Instagram -   / skybucketdreams   == About Us == We’re John & Peggy and we’re happy you are visiting our channel!
