In todays episode I will show you our ski weekend Baqueira/Beret. The second time trying skiing in Spain. Interested in more skiing areas Watch this    • Skiing In Andorra | Enjoy Life After 50   Watch this    • Skiing In La Molina | Enjoy Life After 50   We started out at 12.30 at Thursday from Barcelona and was there at 16.30. It took 4 hours. It was no snow on the roads so it was no problem with our summer tire. When we arrived in Baqueira-Beret our hotel was a bit up on the mountain, not down in the village. But it was ski-in and there were two smaller restaurants just meters away. If you wanted to buy breakfast and food there was a supermarket down in the village. The supermarket had a huge assortment and you could find the most things you needed there. We rented ski equipment and there were many shops to choose from so that was no problem at all and really affordable. Baquiera-Beret is often overlooked by skiers who can't see beyond the end of the Alps. The ski resort is huge with 167km of pistes. The largest of Spain's ski resorts, it lies at the head of the beautiful Val d'Aran, near Vielha, in the Spanish Pyrenees. Developed by Luis Arias, a Spanish National Ski Champion, Baqueira first opened in 1964 and is a favorite with the Spanish Royal family who regularly holiday here. Its location provides a unique Atlantic climate guaranteeing high quality snow, just the right amount of sunshine and, due to its southerly latitude, an hour's more daylight than the Alps. The village is built in wood and stone rather than concrete, situated on the road up to the ski resort and is the best known in the Pyrenees. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 1,500 and 2,610 m. The slopes at Bequeira Beret are mainly accessed with modern chairlifts. Due to the snow-reliable location, the ski season usually begins in November and goes until the end of April. One tip is to book restaurants for lunch and for dinner as there are not many to choose from. I think the ski area is fantastic and really worth to go back to.
