A New Chapter at 63 - Manchester, My Cabin & Finding Home

This week takes me back to Manchester for work, and to start moving into my new gaff at my best friend’s home. It’s a place that already feels like home to me, filled with friendship, warmth and that wonderful feeling of being welcomed exactly as you are. And then it’s back to the simple things I love and taking some of my creative work to the shop, spending time with my dog and chickens, and picking fresh apples from the trees. As I move between these two very different places, I find myself thinking about what “home” actually means. After losing my husband six years ago, my life has changed in ways I could never have imagined. My daughters are all grown and moving and I now have a little one-room cabin that gives me solitude, creativity and freedom, and a friend in Manchester, whose home gives me companionship, laughter and a feeling of belonging. Perhaps home isn’t always one place. Is it the life we create around ourselves? And honestly… I quite like my little one-room life.
