A 4K walk through Gifu City, Japan — about 20 minutes from Nagoya on the JR line. This one is a special: a short trip out of Nagoya. The sound is the real sound of the street. There is no voice-over and no music; short English captions appear on screen now and then. Filmed September 13, 2026 Gifu is about 30 km north of Nagoya and part of its commuter belt. The walk starts at JR Gifu Station and goes straight into the covered arcades just north of it: the Gifu textile wholesale district. Around 1980, more than 1,600 clothing makers and wholesalers were packed into these streets. Today most of the shutters are down, and even on a Sunday there are hardly any people. A shop that looks like a used bookstore is one of the few that are open. From there it heads for Meitetsu Gifu Station, where the streets get a little livelier, and along the avenue where trams used to run — Gifu's streetcars stopped in 2005.
