Type 26 frigate meets Type 23 frigate

On Wednesday, 9th September, the type 23 frigate HMS Portland docked alongside BAE Systems in Scotstoun. She was launched at Scotstoun by Yarrows shipbuilders in 1991. Type 26 frigates are currently being built there to replace the ageing Type 23 class. They are substantially larger, wider, and heavier than the older frigate, with a fully loaded displacement nearly 3,000 tons greater. © Thomas Flynn - All footage uploaded to the channel is filmed by me and is copyrighted.
