Every hour, 150,000 men, all in their basic white Ihram and women, with their faces uncovered, circle around the meteorite sent from Heaven – the centre of all Muslim worship. Unprecedented and colourful footage follows possibly the largest number of pilgrims ever. From their Temporary homes in the newly fireproofed and air– conditioned tents in the nearby town of Mina, we go through Makkah to the stoning of the devil at the Jamarat pillars in Arafat. The Hajj this year had special resonance in the wake of September 11th, as Muslims are keen to repair the tarnished Image of Islam.
