The Witcher: A Complete Retrospective — Part 1 | The Witcher

I first played The Witcher over 15 years ago, and my initial impressions weren't exactly great. The combat was strange, the visuals already felt dated, and I had a hard time getting into it. But over the years, especially after falling in love with The Witcher 3 and reading Andrzej Sapkowski's books, my appreciation for the original game has changed quite a bit. This is the first part of a three-part retrospective covering the original Witcher trilogy. We'll take a deep dive into the story, characters, choices, and the ways CD Projekt Red adapted Sapkowski's world. I'll talk about what I think they got right, where they stumbled, and why I've come to appreciate this strange, ambitious little game so much more than I did the first time I played it. I won't lie, this has been an incredibly difficult project. Between the research, writing, recording, and seemingly endless editing, it's easily the most ambitious video I've ever attempted. I spent months working on it, and there were plenty of moments when I wondered what I'd gotten myself into. When I started it, I thought "I can finish this in about a month and a half." That couldn't have been farther from the truth... But it's finally finished, and I'm really excited to share it with you. I know three and a half hours is a lot to ask of anyone, so whether you watch the whole thing or just stick around for a little while, I genuinely appreciate you giving it your time. I hope you enjoy it!
