6 June 1944. Bill Millin lands on Sword Beach with Lord Lovat's commandos, carrying his Highland bagpipes into the surf and playing under fire.
KEEP PLAYING, PIPER follows their advance inland to the Caen Canal and Orne crossings, where British airborne troops are holding the bridges. The pipes fall silent under fire, then begin again. To the waiting defenders, that familiar sound signals approaching reinforcements.
Major John Howard's Ox and Bucks had already captured the two bridges after landing in gliders. Lovat's commandos come from the coast to reinforce the airborne positions. The fighting continues after their arrival.
A historical folk metal song about exhaustion, loss and the sound that helps men take one more step. Highland bagpipes, marching drums and heavy guitars carry the story.
