"There's No Mention of My Name" — Cat Matlala Trial Witness Admits Gap in His Own Story

Musa Kekana was under arrest for murder, coughing blood, and lying in a hospital bed. Colonel Owen King, then station commander at Bramley Police Station, says he raced to Edenvale Hospital over a credible threat to staff and patients, and had Kekana discharged early for everyone's safety. But the doctor King says he spoke with was never identified. The phone call he describes appears nowhere in the hospital's own records. Under cross-examination, defense counsel put it to King directly: nothing in the documentation corroborates his account, and his own name doesn't appear anywhere in it. King had one answer. "I'm agreeing to that. There's no mention of my name."
