Ancient and Modern - Catching on my 1969 Gear

‪@MarkWintleFishing‬ The gear I used in 1969 - a Woolworth's spinning rod and cheap Daiwa fixed spool reel - is long gone but a few years ago I found a very cheap 6ft spinning rod complete with a very cheap fixed spool reel so I've loaded the reel with 3lb line and tackled up with a crowquill float and a gilt eyed hook. I've taken this set-up to Spinnaker Lake near Ringwood, a Christchurch AC water that I first fished in 1976, and fished with my favourite 1969 bait which was bread paste. Bites are soon forthcoming and after a two-hour interlude with modern gear I try this gear again but with sweetcorn and catch a couple of better fish.
