From Marking 2 Acres to Planting Trees | Episode 5

The plan is finally becoming reality. 🌱 In Episode 5 of **Code to Crops**, we move from farm planning to the actual plantation process. Before planting a single tree, we had to prepare the entire 2-acre farm — and surprisingly, one of the most difficult and time-consuming parts was simply **marking the land correctly**. We used thread lines across the farm and followed a *90-degree layout* to make sure the planting points were properly spaced and the rows stayed aligned when viewed from either direction. Then came the soil preparation. 🌱 Digging was completed around 10 days before planting 🌱 Vermicompost was used for initial soil preparation 🌱 Neem cake was added as the initial organic input At the same time, I planned the complete plant requirement using an *Excel sheet* — calculating what crops I needed and how many plants were required. The plants were ordered from a nursery in **Andhra Pradesh**, with around one month required for delivery. Fortunately, the plants arrived mostly in good condition. A few damaged plants were replaced, and the nursery also provided several additional plants free of cost, including flowering plants, papaya, banana and coconut plants. And then came the most special part... *Planting day.* 🌱 The first planting was done by my family members, which made the occasion much more meaningful. After months of planning, preparation, infrastructure work and waiting... *we finally started putting trees into the ground.* This is the point where the farm journey starts to feel real.
