One mic hears the kick drum. Every gadget in the room flashes on it. No Wi-Fi, no cables, no excuses. 💅⚡
This is the W10 Beat Conductor: a DIY beat-sync light show running over LoRa at 916 MHz, built from a pile of dev boards that were sitting in a drawer judging me. Now they work for the beat. 🎛️🔥
🎛️ THE CREW
👑 Meshnology W10: The Conductor. Listens through its mic, finds the tempo and the downbeat on its own, and yells every beat across LoRa. Main character energy.
💡 Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3: The Follower. Hears the beat and flashes in the conductor's color. Locked at 128 BPM for 300+ beats with zero dropped. Obedient queen.
🌉 Heltec V3 (dead screen edition): The Bridge. Its OLED died, but its radio didn't. Now it translates LoRa ↔ ESP-NOW for the booth gear. Redemption arc. 🧟
📺 CYD "Cheap Yellow Display": The Booth Console. Giant BPM, full-screen beat flashes, signal stats, and a TAKE button to steal the beat from the W10 without a single skipped flash.
🎚️ M5Stack M5Dial: The Handheld Controller. Spin the knob for ±0.1 BPM, push and spin to nudge the beat. And it only hands over control when I tap my NExT implant on it. 🦾 Yes, really.
🤏 M5Stack StickS3: The Pocket Conductor. Same beat brain as the W10, but it fits in your pocket. Or flip it to badge mode and wear the beat.
📦 Coming soon: 10× Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 + Wio-SX1262 kits = 9 crowd badges + 1 more pocket conductor. The light show is about to go wide. 👀
⚙️ HOW IT WORKS
🎤 The mic tracks kick-drum hits and locks onto the tempo
📡 Every beat goes out as a tiny 7-byte LoRa packet (SF7 / BW500, ~10 ms on air)
🔁 Followers keep the beat going if a packet goes missing (flywheel mode)
🎛️ The booth can grab the beat mid-set and hand it back. No glitch, no awkward silence.
🔓 FLASH IT YOURSELF (no Arduino IDE, I promise)
Every board has a ready-made .bin. Chrome or Edge → esptool-js → address 0x0 → Program. Done. Open source, MIT licensed.

🙏 Huge thanks to @meshnology for sending the W10, and to Seeed Studio for the incoming XIAO kits. Both were sent to me for free; all opinions and bad jokes are mine.
