Chicago White Sox @ Chicago Cubs - June 6, 1998 - Derrick White, Sammy Sosa, Brant Brown, Caruso

One day after Brant Brown's extra-inning heroics give The Beloved the win in the opener, the Cubs and Chicago White Sox meet in Game 2 of the Crosstown Classic. This is back in 1998 when the series was still red hot and not the watered down garbage it is now. Former New York Mets great Kevin Tapini takes the mound for the Cubs and despite being hit around (as he was for most of his 19-win 1998 season) winds up getting the win over the Sox and future Toronoto Blue Jays legend Stevie Eyre. In a seesaw affair, it's former Montreal Expos great Derrick White's pinch-hit two-run homer (2:00:28) that puts ahead the Cubs for good. Future Baltimore Orioles great Sammy Sosa (2:21:20) adds a home run an inning later off rotund Carlos Castillo to give the Cubs an insurance run they would need. Future Boston Red Sox legend Rod Beck pitches a very eventful ninth inning to get the save for the Cubs. https://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...
