Once you truly understand this, caring what people think doesn't just get easier to manage, it stops being a thing that even comes up for you. In this video I break down shadow work, what Carl Jung actually meant by the shadow, and why your fear of being judged was never really about other people at all. The shadow isn't the evil, ugly part of you that most people think it is. It's every part of yourself you were taught to disown, hide, and feel ashamed of, starting when you were a child learning which parts of you got love and which parts got you shamed or ignored. And so much of what you buried in there wasn't bad at all. It was your power, your boldness, your desire, your voice, your bigness. The parts that were too much for someone, so you hid them to stay safe and stay loved. I'll show you how what you've pushed into the shadow gets projected out and reflected right back to you, because everyone is yourself pushed out. The judgment you're so afraid of out there was always coming from in here. That's exactly why trying to manage it from the outside never works, you can't perform well enough, shrink small enough, or collect enough approval to ever feel safe. The way out is what Jung called integration, bringing those exiled parts back into the whole of you and accepting all of yourself, not just the polished version you let people see. When there's no part of you that you're rejecting, there's nothing left for anyone's opinion to grab onto. You walk into any room as your whole self, with nothing to hide and nothing to protect.
