Qutb- ud- din- Aibak|| Early Life Full History | With Multiple-choice Questions Part-07|Quiz Kingdom #history #indianhistory #delhisultanatehistory #indianhistoryquiz #currentaffairs #viralvideo #quizkingdom Welcome back to the channel. Today, we’re diving into the fascinating story of the Slave Dynasty – the first rulers of the Delhi Sultanate. From humble beginnings to royal thrones, this is a tale of loyalty, strength, and ambition. Let’s begin!" Who Were the Slave Dynasty? The Slave Dynasty, also known as the Mamluk Dynasty, ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1206 to 1290 CE. The word “Mamluk” means “owned” or “slave,” because many of these rulers started their lives as military slaves before rising to power. This dynasty was founded by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, a trusted general of Muhammad Ghori. After Ghori’s death in 1206, Aibak declared himself ruler of Delhi, marking the beginning of Muslim rule in India. Qutb-ud-din Aibak – The Founder Aibak was originally a Turkish slave, who rose through the ranks by sheer talent and loyalty. As a ruler, he laid the foundations of Muslim rule in India. He started the construction of the iconic Qutub Minar, though it was completed later by his successors. He ruled from 1206 to 1210, but died unexpectedly while playing polo. Iltutmish – The Real Architect After Aibak, his son-in-law Iltutmish took over the throne. Iltutmish is often regarded as the true founder of the Delhi Sultanate. His reign lasted from 1211 to 1236 CE, and he brought stability, strength, and structure to the new empire. He introduced a stable currency, managed to repel Mongol invasions, and was even recognized by the Abbasid Caliph in Baghdad, giving legitimacy to his rule. He also completed the Qutub Minar. Razia Sultana – A Woman on the Throne One of the most unique chapters of the Slave Dynasty was the rule of Razia Sultana, daughter of Iltutmish. She became the first and only female ruler of Delhi. Smart and brave, Razia broke gender norms and led the empire boldly. However, her reign (1236–1240) was short-lived due to opposition from nobles who didn’t accept a woman as their ruler. She was eventually defeated and killed in battle. Decline of the Dynasty After Razia, the dynasty faced instability. Weak rulers and constant power struggles made the empire fragile. The final blow came when Balban, a strong noble and later a ruler (1266–1287), held the throne with a tight grip but couldn’t stop the eventual collapse. In 1290, Jalal-ud-din Khilji overthrew the last slave ruler and established the Khilji Dynasty, ending the Mamluk rule. Legacy of the Slave Dynasty Despite its name, the Slave Dynasty produced powerful rulers who shaped Indian history. They established Delhi as a political center, defended India from foreign invasions, and introduced Persian culture, architecture, and administration into the Indian subcontinent. Conclusion “From slaves to sultans — the story of the Slave Dynasty shows us how determination and skill can rewrite destiny.
