A Quick Trip to Dresden - Berlin Day Trip

We spent most of the day in Saxon Switzerland, so we didn't get a chance to deep dive Dresden that much, but we're still happy to share what we saw. Dresden is lovely. It feels almost like a city that could have easily become a world capital, like a Paris or a Rome, but because of history, became a provincial small city. While some of the architecture clashes horribly (Soviet Commie Blocks vs. Renaissance Baroque German), and the entry to the city from the train station is oddly sterile, the actual old town itself is pretty incredible. We mostly just walked around, got some ice cream, listened to some music, and sightsaw a bit. Of course, Saxon Switzerland next door is also incredible - see our accompanying video for details on that. If you're deciding on a day trip from Berlin, it's a great option... as long as the Deutsche Bahn doesn't cancel your ticket and make you wait half a day to get there. Consider taking a Flixbus instead.
