The Ruins Beneath Us by Sasha Sloan | An Honest Review (Biased and Unbiased)

The Ruins Beneath Us by Sasha Sloan | Book Review I’m so glad you’re here! Today I’m going over my review for The Ruins Beneath Us by Sasha Sloan. This is a Young Adult Romantasy involving humans and elves. A young elven girl, Lyria, leaves her home for Crown City to help a prince she met and stop the spread of a plague. She also makes an unlikely friend who shows her a secret path to a city said to be harboring the hidden Evermorean Elves for Centuries. Together they work to find the hidden city while Lyria juggles her new commitments and possible future with the prince. I had issues with the setup for the story, fast pace, lack of information, and intense world-building in the first chapter. While I did enjoy the concept, I think the execution could have used some work. I give it some grace being a debut novel, but also think debut novels should shine.
