1991 Suzuki RGV250M SP (VJ22) – The Ultimate Two-Stroke Resto Project
Standing at the absolute pinnacle of 1990s Japanese two-stroke engineering, this 1991 Suzuki RGV250M SP (VJ22) is the holy grail for collectors and Grand Prix purists alike. Built as a homologation special for the Japanese domestic market, the "SP" (Sports Production) variant took Suzuki’s legendary quarter-litre weapon and infused it directly with factory race-bike DNA.
This particular machine is a ultra-rare survivor, retaining its factory-correct close-ratio gearbox, upgraded fully adjustable suspension, and the coveted dry clutch that delivers that unmistakably raw, rattling mechanical song at idle. At its heart lies the explosive 249cc 90-degree V-twin engine, fed by twin Mikuni carbs and featuring the distinctive asymmetrical "banana" swingarm designed to tuck the tuned expansion chambers tight for maximum ground clearance.
Now set to undergo an original patina restoration, this legendary 250cc two-stroke will be painstakingly fettled to bring it back to life.
Once completed, it won't just be a motorcycle; it will be a rolling piece of 1990s Grand Prix history and a true centerpiece for any serious collection.
