Performers are elite athletes - they just aren't always treated like them. In this episode, Lucie is joined by Genevieve Tawiah, an MSK physiotherapist who has spent ten years working across West End productions, major music tours, and TV, to explore the unique physical and psychological demands of life on stage. From dancers in heels doing eight shows a week to touring guitarists sleeping in a different hotel every night, Genevieve explains the injuries she sees most often, why rehabilitation has to work around the show rather than the other way round, and why performers are often reluctant to seek help - even when they really need it. She also shares two simple pieces of advice every performer should hear, and highlights BAPAM, a charity providing free clinical assessments and funding support for performing arts professionals.
