Life Story of the Majhi Community in Sunkoshi Bhotetar: A Field Study and Conversation by a Majhi from Karnali . In this video, I present an in-depth field study and candid conversation with the indigenous Majhi community living in Bhotetar along the banks of the Sunkoshi River. Coming from the Majhi community of the Karnali region myself, this journey connects two distinct river systems—Karnali and Sunkoshi—sharing a collective identity, culture, and deep-rooted struggle. Traditionally dependent on river navigation and fishing, the Majhi people have faced major livelihood transitions and cultural shifts due to modernization, infrastructure changes, and environmental impacts. Join this heartfelt discussion as local elders and community members share their lived experiences, preserving cultural roots, social realities, and their everyday challenges. Topics Covered: Socio-cultural dynamics and traditions of the Majhi community Traditional fishing and boating heritage versus modern livelihood shifts Connecting the lived experiences of Majhis from Karnali and Sunkoshi Voices of the local youth and elders regarding identity and preservation Location: Bhotetar, Sunkoshi, Nepal Field Study & Documentation: Majhi Researcher/Creator from Karnali If you found this documentation valuable, please like, comment, and share to amplify indigenous voices.
