Did you know that just a few decades ago, most children were potty trained by 18–24 months? Today, it's often much later, with many children still using nappies well into their third year and beyond.
In this first video of our Baby Pottying series, Steph from Baby Pottying introduces the gentle approach of baby pottying, also known as elimination communication (EC).
Rather than waiting for "readiness signs", baby pottying encourages parents to gradually introduce the potty from an early age by observing their baby's natural cues and routines. Over time, babies begin to connect the feeling of needing to wee or poo with using the potty, helping to build body awareness and confidence.
This isn't about pressure or perfection. It's about supporting your baby's natural development in a way that works for your family.
In this video you'll learn:
• What baby pottying (elimination communication) is
• Why more families are exploring early potty learning
• How babies naturally communicate their toileting needs
• Why recent UK guidance is encouraging a more gradual approach to potty learning
Whether you're curious about elimination communication or simply looking for a gentler approach to potty training, this series is a great place to start.
Thank you to Steph from @babypottying for sharing her expertise.
