Peter Obi has responded to claims surrounding loans and the financial records of Anambra State during his eight years as governor.
In his response, Obi says he did not borrow any money during his tenure and argues that the loan figure being attributed to his administration resulted from what he describes as an accounting or public-record error by the current Anambra State government.
Obi also points to the claim that his administration left about $150 million in the state’s account and uses an inheritance analogy to explain why, in his view, leaving money behind should not simultaneously be described as leaving debt.
