Saturday Night at the Social Hall — a 1920s New Orleans neighborhood jazz story. Step inside a modest neighborhood social hall, where Saturday night slowly comes alive with cornet, clarinet, trombone, banjo, piano and the easy two-beat rhythm of early jazz. Nobody came for a grand performance. Joe came straight from work. Someone saved a chair by the window. A few neighbors started dancing. Before long, everybody was on the floor. This playlist follows one simple Saturday evening from the first tune to the last — friends arriving, chairs moving aside, couples finding their steps, a little fresh air outside, and one final tune before midnight. And when the music is over? The chairs can wait until tomorrow. 🎺 TRACKLIST 00:00 Saturday Night at the Social Hall 01:10 Save Me a Chair 04:03 Cornet by the Window 06:33 Joe Came Straight from Work 10:11 Two Steps Across the Floor 12:36 You Said You Couldn't Dance 15:48 Clarinet Near the Back Door 17:25 Everybody's on the Floor 21:15 Outside for a Little Air 23:19 They're Still Dancing Inside 27:18 Last Tune Before Midnight 29:21 Stack the Chairs Tomorrow Inspired by the sound and atmosphere of late-1920s New Orleans jazz and early Dixieland. 🎺 Louis Jazz Cafe Vintage New Orleans jazz stories, one evening at a time.
